Alternatives Beauty is a 501(c)(3) nonproﬁt based in Wilmington, Delaware. We provide cosmetology scholarships, free wigs for minority women facing medical hair loss, and beauty services for domestic violence survivors
— because everyone deserves to feel seen, conﬁdent, and cared for.

Our Mission

To break down ﬁnancial, social, and systemic barriers by providing beauty education, resources, and services to minority women, children, and underserved communities in Delaware and beyond.

Built From Experiences.

Driven by Purpose.

Our founder, Tesha, spent nine years in foster care. She was separated from her siblings. She lost her mother to domestic violence. And through all of it, she found her way — through hair. Hair styling gave Tesha income when she had none, conﬁdence when the world oﬀered her little, and a sense of identity she could hold onto. That experience is the foundation of everything Alternatives Beauty does today. We don’t just fund beauty education. We give people the same thing hair gave Tesha: a way forward.

Beauty in Motion

Cosmetology Scholarships

We fund tuition for aspiring cosmetologists who can’t aﬀord beauty school, so they can graduate from Alternatives Beauty School debt-free and launch a career that’s truly theirs.

Hair For You

Free Wigs for Women Facing Medical Hair Loss

Our students hand-craft free wigs for minority women and children experiencing hair loss from cancer, alopecia, and other conditions — wigs made for textured hair, by people who understand it.

Golden Glow

Beauty Services for Domestic Violence Survivors

We provide free hair and makeup services to women and children rebuilding their lives after abuse. No cost. No judgment. Just care.

Beyond Braids Bootcamp

Professional natural hair braiding training, open to aspiring stylists and community members across Delaware.

Alternatives Beauty (alternativesbeauty.org) is a 501(c)(3) nonproﬁt organization. Alternatives Beauty School, Inc. (alternativesbeautyschool.com) is the licensed cosmetology school we partner with in Wilmington, Delaware.

The nonproﬁt raises funds and provides grants, services, and community programs. The school provides the education. Together, our goal is to make high-quality, culturally competent cosmetology training accessible — and aﬀordable — for everyone.
